It seems we got one.

We were surprised thrilled to find out that we are named as one of the top ten innkeepers by The Best of Bedandbreakfast.com Awards 2010-2011. It is a tremendous honor to receive any kind of recognition after just a little over a year of operations. It’s also served to give us a goal for the future; to keep it up and strive to be the best.

So to bedandbreakfast.com and to everyone who has supported us in the past year and a half, we would like to say Thank You. From the bottom of our hearts.

Party Time!

Birthday Girl gets a cake!

Birthday Girl gets a cake!

We had a big party for Greg’s step mother Cathy Dusenberry Late July. She has done so much for us, (along with Greg’s dad Reid), from designing and sewing the bed covers and window treatments, to painting the sign for the entrance to our Inn. For the bash we had 3 couples that are good friends of Cathy and Reid, along with Greg’s sisters and brother. A great time was had by all…we even had a pinata! The columns on the porch took a few dings, but the little pony finally managed to crack, and we are still finding the occasional piece of candy in the yard…

It has been so great having various family members come up to not just visit and see out inn but to help out as well. Today, we want to give a HUGE thank you to Sue and Winston Fowler (Greg’s mom and stepfather) for all they have done in helping us get projects done around here.

THANK YOU!

Here’s some photos of Sue and Winston in action:

We have been blessed to have many of our multitude of family members come and help us with our many projects involved in getting out inn ready for business. Reid and Cathy Dusenberry havecome up from their home in North Carolina on several occasions to lend their hands to our efforts. One of the first rooms we have managed to get ready is the main dining room. Here is a picture of Reid and Greg installing trim work to the recessed shelves in that room as well as an after pic so you can see the results. Oh, we painted too naturally.

Now, as much fun as certain tasks are, some get looked upon with dread. It takes a special volunteer to do those jobs and luckily Cathy was up to it! I of course mean the staining and painting of the shelves not just in the dining room but the library as well. Here she is toiling away:

We can never express how grateful and fortunate we are for our families and the help they have provided for us in getting our endeavour up and on it’s way. The financial assistance has been immeasurable and the help with getting our myriad of projects big and small done has been…..well, let’s just say none of this would be possible without their help.

Pat and Clement Dickey have been superlative in all their efforts to help us. Their living locally has meant that they have the opportunity to frequently come by and help, but it is their willingness to do so that has made it so special. So here’s to them. Thank-you so much.
