The Inn at Tabb’s Creek at Port Haywood in Mathews County Virginia is owned and operated by Greg and Lori Dusenberry. Inspired by passions for the environment, organic gardening and farming, sustainable living and green building practices, our hope is to provide our guests with a relaxing experience and share our love of nature.
A native of North Carolina, Greg achieved a BA in Philosophy and Eastern Religion at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian College. After graduating, he pursued his interest in organic farming, working farms in North Carolina and Pennsylvania for 7 years. He continued pursuing his interest in natural foods working as a chef in various establishments in the Chapel Hill NC area before working as a buyer at Whole Foods Inc.
Lori, a Texas native, also graduated from St. Andrew’s with a BA in philosophy. After spending several years as a commercial arts designer, she began exploring her interests in organic gardening, working for several greenhouse companies.
The Inn at Tabb’s Creek is the culmination of our interests and dreams. We hope you will share in the experience along with us.

Guys, this is great. Best of luck, cant wait to see it. I know Ellie will want to stay a weekend.
God Bless, Vic & Ellie Duarte
This is looking great–thanks for posting some before pictures. We can’t wait to get up there!
Greg and Lori, what an exciting venture! And the renovations look like they’re coming along nicely. You will leave at least one “before” room intact, right? Maybe a consolidated Coca-Cola/Dalmations hideaway?? We’ll be sure to request that suite when we visit

This website is fantastic! We just celebrated Valentines Day with a yummy dinner at home and before heading out to the bonfire, took some time to review your blog and all the exciting things that are happening at Tabbs Creek Inn.
We are thrilled for you both, and are counting the days until we can put in some elbow grease and even better… sit on that glorious dock to raise CHEERS to your DREAMS!
We love you sweethearts,

Greg and Lori,
The website (and more importantly the inn) look great! My only disappointment is that I won’t be able to stay in the Coke room- although I’m sure you’ll come up with something, possibly even more attractive and comfortable. Laurie and I can’t wait to visit and will definitely share news of the reopening of this lovely spot with our friends in the area.
Looking forward to visiting,
Doug and Laurie
Greg and Lori:
What a treat to receive your email and to see your wonderful project!!! it is amazing what philosophers end up doing. It certainly looks like you have found the good life. Someday I hope to visit.
Best,
Bill Throop
Hey guys!
I am so proud of both of you. Greg, I miss having you around, but I’m glad you’re doing something so fulfilling. Julie and I get more and more anxious for the day when we can buy a historic home and renovate it, or even something like what you have done.
We look forward to coming out this summer.
best of wishes,
Jeremy Barnes
Dear Greg and Lori,
I cannot believe the changes you have made in such a short time. You two have created a piece of heaven there in Va. Your guests will come away from the Inn with a peace that they will carry for years to come. You have created a place to rest a soul not just a head. My heart is full of pride to have had you in my circle of friends and to know that you are on to big things !
Be Well, my friends,
Laura
Love what you’re doing with the place – knew it would be fabulous – can’t wait to see it in person!
Hey Greg and Lori! I have given your place a new name – a little slice of heaven! Thank you for your wonderful hospitality and sharing your new adventure with us. We had a blast. The place is absolutely beautiful and very intreaging. Best of luck getting everything done. Thanks again!

hi Greg and Lori, I am sending this from Toulouse, in the south of France. I lived 4 years in DC and visited Bill and Erin with French folks about 5-6 times before they shut the property to guests. First of all, congrats on taking over such a fantastic spot. I am very nostalgic of your area and hope to be back some day. I bumped into another French guy today who used to own a house in Gloucester (here in Toulouse, 6000 miles away, go figure) and thought I would look up Tabbs Creek on the net (knowing that we have huge prints of the Chesapeake above our bed, to make sure you weigh our attachment to the region
Do you know what happened to Bill and Erin? They were fantastic hosts, I always put on about 4 pounds each WE I spent there, and I’m sure you are too based on credits and pics.
Until some day perhaps, all the best, Christophe
